Squalicum Creek Park Master Plan and Phase 1 Implementation
Bellingham’s Squalicum Creek Park offers both active and passive recreation opportunities. J.A. Brennan developed the master plan and the construction documents for the first phase of the community park and sports field complex.
Phased development of the park provides sport fields, restrooms, concession stands, an off-leash dog area, playgrounds, and parking for about 250 vehicles. The park’s trails connect to an existing regional trail system. Sustainable features include low impact storm water measures such as rain gardens and infiltration swales in the parking area. The project provides the growing City of Bellingham with needed recreational facilities, while preserving natural resources, habitat and open space.
