J.A. Brennan developed the aesthetic design for the bridge over SR 520 that connects Microsoft’s East and West campuses in Redmond, Washington

Drawing from the vocabulary of Northwest river landscapes and the historic pattern of the nearby Sammamish River, the bridge’s flowing pedestrian paths are flanked by Lithocrete ‘sedimentary’ concrete walls. The walls create inviting seating areas. The paths have four interweaving patterns that evoke the natural processes of erosion and sedimentation within a riverbed.

Both ends of the lid are flanked by gateway landscapes featuring native riparian plantings, berms, boulders, and dry gravel beds.
